Amazing trek of Salher Fort
This trek can be divided into 3 parts.
- Salher Wadi (Base) to Buruj: This part might drain most of your energy. Climbing through some jungle patch and a few rock cut steps. Once you reach the entrance, you will be able to see a couple of gates. Walking further you can see fortifications and a huge flag.
- Buruj to Cave (Lake): From this patch trek becomes a bit easy. Casually walking on some incline and then reaching a series of rock cut steep steps with multiple doors. They are in small amounts and in good condition so it will be no issue. Once you complete the steps, again it is a normal walk. You can see Potable Water Tank, Gangasagar Lake, Renuka Devi Temple and just a little ahead, the cave where you can do your camping.
- Cave to Top: This part is easy and only for a few sections you might feel tired but can be done in 20 mins. Once you reach the top, the views are just mesmerising and seeing the lone temple at the top and the beautiful peaks of the Sahyadri mountain range is breathtaking. Enjoy both Sunset and Sunrise here.
Trek Duration: It took us 3 hrs to reach the top including a few stops and photos.
Camping: A place near the cave or near the Potable water tank will be the best place for camping as your tent will be safe from winds.
Tip: Please carry at least 2-3 water bottles per person. Just in case, you can use the potable water by heating it and filtering it with some cloth.
